THE CROWN AGENTS"

1767/1914

Gentlemen,

Downing Street,

January,

19.

1914.

With reference to your letter of the 8th December (M.Medical 342), I am directed by Ir.Secretary Harcourt to inform you that a telegram has been received from the Governor of Hongkong in which he states that Mr.G.F H.Taylor was transferred to the lighthouse at Cap Rock from that at Cape Collinson as the former was the most acceptable station. The Governor indicates that Er.Taylor may possibly be malingering and enquires whether he could not return to the lighthouse at Cape Collinson or to that at Green Island.

The Governor adds that there are no vacancies outside the lighthouse service suitable for Mr.Taylor.

2. I am therefore to request you to ascertain from your kedical Adviser as soon as possible whether he considers (a), that there is any suspicion of malingering on the part of lir.Taylor and (b), that his state of healt would admit of his being stationed at a lighthouse at which moréthan one white keeper is employed.

I an,

Gentlemen

Your most obedient Servant,

(Sd) H. J. Read
